Ayurvedic Bodywork Specialist (ABS)

SAMA’s Ayurvedic Bodywork Specialist program is designed to teach the student how to promote holistic healing for mind, body and spirit. Students will learn specific applications of oils, poultices, thermo and hydrotherapy, healing muds/pastes, herbal potions and the anointing of therapeutic substances on the body.  Our Ayurvedic Bodywork Specialist will learn how to harmonize bodywork modalities with the seasons, using neutral, safe and innocuous oils, healing applications and pastes as well as be able to demonstrate proficiency on exactly how to touch the body as well as perform Ayurvedic techniques to benefit every client safely and effectively, no matter their doshic imbalance or constitution. This will be a fun, insightful, healing and comprehensive class! The premise of the ABS course is based on the ancient healing modalities of pancha karma, but is modified such that the graduate’s scope of practice is geared for the “general” population and not for medical or clinical purposes. Clinical pancha karma should be performed with or by a doctor and is considered a very medically effective, time-proven and effective approach to transforming the human physiology.

Our Ayurvedic Bodywork Specialist students will learn many pancha karma modalities, but will not be expected to diagnose, take the pulse, or determine doshic imbalances in the client. Graduates in RI  will be eligible to work in a hotel spas, yoga studios, health clubs spa, in their homes or wellness/healing center, as long as you are not doing or claiming to be a massage therapist. Every state has different requirements, so inquire with your state board of health for details if you are not from RI.

Our Ayurvedic Bodywork Specialist Course provides unlicensed and licensed health and beauty professionals to become trained in Ayurvedic Bodywork Specialist Modalities. In the state of RI, unlicensed health and beauty professionals can legally operate under the title of Ayurveda. Please click on this link for more information regarding the legality. This course will not prepare the student to become a licensed massage therapist and is not designed for the student to learn how to manipulate the musculature, fascia or the bone structure of the client. Click here for more info about legally “touching” the body without a massage license.

Prerequisites:

A passion for the healing arts and very basic amount of information on Ayurveda.

Returning Students:

Graduates of The Newport Massage School, graduates of and current students of SAMA's Registered Ayurveda Health Counselor Program are eligible for a 20% discount on the ABS program.  Please contact support@sacredstonehealing.com for additional information.

Missed ABS Seminar Policies: (This doesn't apply to NMS students)

SAMA allows students to miss 2 seminars in each program and use them to transfer to the next year’s ABS program at no additional cost. After missing more than 2 seminars, students can still transfer over to the next program but at 50% off of the current website cost of the particular seminar that was missed. For example, most 2-day ABS seminars are about $308. That means ABS students would only pay half that amount if they missed more than two seminars and wished to transfer into the next program to participate in those missed seminars. Some of the ABS seminars are only 1-day as well priced more affordably.
